daydreaming of max's kansas city
This was the place to be in the late 60s and 70s..grrrrr..i wish i were a teen in those decades!!
Wow, this was like the gathering spot for famous people like Warhol, Lou Reed, Bowie, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop, Janis Joplin..and the place is still there in New York! As I type this, i'm listening to Isobel Campbell's The Cat's Pyjamas imagining myself there dressed in flapper outfit dancing with Mick Jagger wearing the tightest ass pants in the world!
This place was filled with blood red lighting, half empty cups of coffee, cigarette smoke swirling in the air, live music which started many careers..the Velvet Underground made their last appearance there as a band. At some point the place shut down and then reopened to a new sound and crowds of people with the likes of The Ramones, Talking Heads, etc..in 1981, the doors shut for good. All the good places are gone and young people like me will never get a chance to experience what it was like back then..TIME MACHINE PLEEEEZE!!
Have so much studying for tests to do but i don't feel like it, so i went to get pho soup at a Vietnamese cafe with Stew..its a quirky spot near his apartment. Its been soooo COLD + SNOWING + WINDY + DEPRESSING. I've taken a whole bunch of dvds off my shelf that take place in the summer to warm myself up..i've made tomato soup and avocado sandwiches. Anyways..here's a list of summer movies..My Summer of Love, Waterlilies, Blue Crush, Thelma and Louise, Weekend At Bernies, Arachnophobia, Taking Woodstock..
Message to Peggypenny..how much do you want for that round luggage bag??
